Kitchen Tips and Advice Along with the tips and tricks for the kitchen I have decided to share a simple,  filling recipe for people on that very restricted diet you need to follow when you have been diagnosed with Gastroparesis.  Gastroparesis is one of those diseases that I wouldn't wish on my greatest enemy, not that I have one.   It has a restrictive diet that is not easy to stick to. Anyway, this little recipe is more for the semi-liquid stage.  I am able to have certain foods as long as they are finely chopped (once a day anyway).  It is easy to make, healthy and filling. Before I begin I would like to share a diet recipe that I made to fit my Gastroparesis diet and my Diabetic diet.  It is filling, taste good, and I have no after effect of pain and no nauseous feeling. Fend For Yourself Day

Image
Fend For Yourself Day Leftovers Today is what we in our home called "Fend for yourself day".  What is a fend for yourself day mean?  Probably exactly what you think it means.  It means, open the fridge door, take out a couple of plastic containers, put the food on your plate and heat it. It is actually a clean out the refrigerator day.  We try to use up all the leftovers from the last few days so we don;t have to throw it out.  We have a day like this every now and then when the refrigerator becomes crowded with plastic containers.   It is actually one of the days we like to just graze and enjoy the foods we like the best. Sometimes we just heat up what we want to eat and sometimes we get a bit creative.  Whatever we choose to do with the food, it becomes a fun, relaxing meal time.                                           ...

Air-Fryer

Image
Air-Fryer Have you used an Air-fryer?  They are fun to use and easy to cook with.  We bought an air-fryer to  cook some of our food in a healthy manner.  Both the hubby and I like fried food but we know it really isn't good for you.   One of the first foods we cooked in it was fried chicken.  We both loved it.  It turned out moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. We are both lovers of fried chicken.  It was absolutely delicious.  It is the only way we eat fried chicken now. So when I asked him what he wanted for his birthday dinner (today is his birthday). he said he wanted the air-fryer chicken.  That and some French fries. All you have to do is use your own homemade recipe for the coating.   Preheat the air-fryer to 390 degrees. Dip the chicken in it, then dip in a milk and eggs mixture and back in the coating mixture.  Place in air-fryer basket and set cooking time for 30 minutes. En...

Crock-Pot Cooking

Crock-Pot Cooking                                                                                            I love using my crock-pot.  It happens to be my favorite of all kitchen appliances.  There is nothing like filling a crock-pot with ingredients, leaving for the day, and coming home to the aroma of a homecooked meal greeting you at the door.   A crock-pot, or slow cooker is one of the most reliable and versatile appliances you can own.  There isn't much you can't cook in it.  I have even cooked cake in my crock-pot. Today I will be cooking a beef soup.  I know it's the middle of the summer but this soup is so good we eat it year round. I think you will like the recipe.           ...
